I can NOT delete a transaction in HomeBank 5.5.4 or 5.5.5 on a Windows 10 computer

Asked by Davis Pearse

As it says in the summary, I find that I cannot delete a transaction made in error in either HomeBank 5.5.4 or the latest 5.5.5 version.

Once the transaction is registered, it is there to stay and the "Delete" option in the context menu is always greyed out.

My only recourse is the close the program before saving or, having saved, load a previous backup copy and import the same transactions all over again.

I appreciate any help that you may be able to extend. Thanks.

Hi Davis,
When editing a transaction that has already been reconciled, you must first unlock the view. When you select the account and prepare to edit transactions in the Editing view where all of the accounts transactions are displayed, notice the little 'slider' at the top left of the screen to the left of the word 'Range'. It has a little padlock symbol to the left of the 'slider' that indicates that the 'Reconciled' transactions are locked. Simply move the slider to the right! You will notice that the padlock symbol changes from Locked to Un-locked. You will also notice that when you select a 'Reconciled' transaction that you can now edit it as before.

Hope this helps. If this solves your problem, then be sure to mark this question as 'SOLVED".

Thank you, Richard, for a perfectly helpful answer; precise, concise and to the point. It was as if you were sitting at my computer and personally walking me through the steps of the solution. It amazes me that I never fully focused on the elements of the Editing window to see the little slider that you described. I shall have to pay more attention to the finer details in the future.

Many thanks again.
