How to record a split transaction

I have looked in the manual and online, but the images in the instructions don't match the screens that come up. I have entered first the total amount of the transaction and clicked on the icon after the amount for a split. That takes me to a screen that shows the possibility for multiple splits within that transaction. I enter on the first line, but cannot get to a subsequent line for the second part of the split. I see no place to enter a second part. After doing this, I see two separate transaction, one the total amount and one the first part of the split.

The image I see on the split transaction dialog shows fields at the bottom for entry that I do not see below the list of parts of the split.

I am using version 5.0.3
