cannot change the backup or save folder.

Have altered the folder name in preferences., but continues to save in its original folder.
it would also be good to have an automatic save.

Go to Edit > Preferences > General and be sure to check "Load last opened file." Put your working copy of your HomeBank data file in the folder you want to use and open it from there. It will always be saved there automatically, and its backups will be saved there also.
