I guess there is no help available. I'll have to look for another check register program. I had such high hopes for HomeBank.

A tag can be anything you want. I typically use an abbreviation for the day of the week for frequent items such as food shopping. The use of a tag is not compulsory.

Are you editing a new transaction or an existing transaction?
Do you see an 'OK' button.?
If so is it 'greyed' out?
If it's 'greyed' out it means that some vital information is missing.

Also please tell us which operating system and Homebank version you are using so that we are more aware of the Homebank features that you have available.

Ok button is disabled, when the transfer is invalid, for example no target account or they have different currencies

Very late to the party, but I had the same problem and figured it out (with a little bit of hacking the file), so I thought I'd share.

I also had a greyed out transaction I couldn't delete. The state was already a green check.
You can open de Homebank file (xhb) in notepad. Search for the wrong transaction, i.e.:

<ope date="738245" amount="-10" account="1" st="1" payee="11" category="10" wording="Wording" tags="Tags"/>

Remove st="1"

Save the file and open the file in Homebank.

This worked for me
