migrated from quicken cannot edit transaction to split it

I migrated several accounts from Quicken - having exported all the files as QIF. I thought everything was fine until I went in to look at my splits. I remember reading somewhere that these would not get split properly on the import. So, I figured I would edit the transactions and properly split them. But, I seemingly cannot edit it. I get a dialog box, but the option to open the split is not available. What must I do? Should I have done something differently when I did the import? I can start over, if necessary.
