PPA VER OLD and Files not compatable with newer win ver.

I have downloaded from the ppa in term several times and get the old version. I use windows 10 and also run a linux Mint computer . I would like to cross platform but I get file save in new ver not compatible . I even tried the windows ver in wine which somewhat works . I can load XHB file only by dropping on the program screen. I can read etc by can not down load QFX or xport. crashes in wine. The compiling of the linux ver on the web site is confusing to me , any possibility of updating the PPA?
