Categories not working as expected

How can I exclude credit card payments/transfers from the statistics reports? These transactions are simply a transfer of money from one account to another and aren't an actual expense. But the "transfer" category is shown in all the reports, and is typically the largest amount (since it mirrors the actual expenses). Is there a way to exclude the "transfers" category from reports? I tried just not categorizing these types of transactions but then the reports include a "no category" item which similarly throws everything off. Thx.
