Setting calendar and fiscal year in 2 different files possible?

Is it possible to set up 2 different files with different fiscal year start dates? I have two files entered, first one is set up with a fiscal year stating 1 July. If I change the start of the fiscal year on the second file to 1 January the start date of the first is also changed to 1 January. Using version 5.1.5. Thanks.
