Right to reuse logo and/or name

Asked by Hubert Ray

Hello,

I worked on a mobile (Android) application to read HomeBank (.xhb) files. I submitted it to the store and was rejected because I was not the proprietary of the name and logos "HomeBank". I released this app under GPL license so I think I'm respecting the license you put on Homebank itself. My question is two folds :

- Do you allow me to reuse the name and logo "HomeBank" ?
- If so, can you provide a document that I can send to google so I can actually publish it ?

In essence, I reused the Homebank logo and the name was "HomeBank Companion App", is that ok for you ?

Hi Hubert,

Everything I do is free software, you can reuse until you follow GPL rules: no problem.

I am not owner of HomeBank name into App stores (or anywhere else) as well. It is probably a financial company that does.
probably JSC Kazkommertsbank.

that name is proprietary into many country (I do have trouble with ING in belgium and holland in the past that claimed I was violating something). So for that I can't help.

Apparently, the copyright infrigement is about HomeBank itself (your app). I gave them a link to the GPL license in your code in launchpad but I got the following answer :

[...] your app contains contents of HomeBank, http://homebank.free.fr/index.php.

We were not able to validate your account's relationship to the original content or brand owner. We advise you to provide verifiable documentation of copyrighted content with the following examples: distribution agreement, authorization contract, or website domain ownership (PDF file). Please be advised we will not be able to respond or reinstate your application without the above documentation.

Can you help by providing a document ?
