Ubuntu Linux version. Installed with synaptic. Running from Applications>office. False start at setting up account - Help needs more detail. I have set pathway in Preferences, but there is no wallet there. Tried New, but no dialog appears.

I believe I have gone past this question, however I am unable to get the transaction file downloaded from my bank into a format Homebank recognizes.

I have tried:
1. changed .CSV to .csv (Linux)
2. eliminated header
3 eliminated " delimiters, leaving just ,

Please show a valid example of .csv

There is a description of the csv format and a small example in the help:
http://homebank.free.fr/help/06csvformat.html

I should think about improving that part.

M Doyen: For your info csv means comma separated variables, but you have chosen to use semicolons as delimiters.

A program in which transactions must be keyed in by hand or rearranged from download is not very useful. Also, all such programs should be able to export data.

It is easier for me to select and copy transactions from bank's on-line display or downloaded .csv and paste into spreadsheet.

I have solved my problem by abandoning this software.

hum... I don't really why you're so rough about it...Have you paid for using homebank ?
Have you thanked the author for sharing his work ?
Have you any programming skills and will to help him improve the software ?
You could for example ask for new features (cf "Blueprint") in a gentle way instead of complaining...

There is not documentation on how to set up a wallet, there should be more info for newbies how to setup wallets, accounts, etc. That would be really helpful to a newbe.

If you have a question please ask in a new question please, as I usually only answer those with an Open Status.
