Can't import QIF from PayPal

Asked by dleigh

I want to add a PayPal account to HomeBank. PayPal allows transaction downloads in csv and qif, but I figured that qif might be easier to import without having to change the format of the file. Unfortunately, HomeBank doesn't recognize the file: "Unknown/Invalid file" message. Here's the beginning of the file. Is there something wrong with it?

(I'm running HB 5.1.2 on Windows 10)

Ok - after further looking I'm not sure this will work.

In my use of PayPal, it's multi-currency and PayPal keeps money in one account in the original currency and only changes the currency when needed on payments and withdrawals. So that presents a couple of problems:

1. accounts in HomeBank are single currency
2. qif format exports from PayPal are ONLY for US Dollar transactions - so that's basically worthless to me.

It would be interesting to know what was wrong with my file as that might help in the future (so if there's a quick answer, please give it), but it looks like I won't be pursuing PayPal qif files and maybe not PayPal accounts at all unfortunately.

for your 1st post
=> I did loaded a sample file using the lines you posted with no trouble

for the second one:
1. multi currency account do not exists
2. this is a paypal limitation, they should provide download into 1 master currency (the one of your account), but I can't help there

Can you help with this problem?
