Cannot import a *.csv file - lists the *.csv as unknown or invalid file type

Asked by rafkid

I have saved a *.xls as a *.csv in libreoffice calc. Homebank will not recognise the file as a *.csv. However the file is named as a *.csv and it opens in libreoffice as a *.csv from the import wizard. Any help appreciated. Forgive my n00bishness please. The same file can be opened in Gnucash running in Lubuntu. Homebank in Lubuntu or in Win7 on the same machine (dual boot) does not open the file.

Additionally I can open and import the same *.csv file directly into GnuCash on my linux partition. My Homebank install in Win7 and in Lubuntu does not at the moment import *.csv files. Is this a Homebank problem or is it me being clumsy? Maybe I need to read something that I have not yet found?
