How to import .qif or .qfx to HomeBank

Asked by Andrew Hohmann

I downloaded .QIF and .QFX bank statements to my DESKTOP. When I attempt to IMPORT .QIF or .QFX from my DESKTOP, HomeBank import assistant tells me "Unkown or Invalid file...". The same message for .QIF. Is there a solution?

This is likely due to a difference in how your bank creates these files. Without looking at the files, it's difficult to say, but as they contain confidential/private information I understand you don't want to just send these files.

Maybe Maxime has a special way to print out debug information that would indicate why the file is not recognized?

I'm also trying out GNUCASH. GNUCASH can import either QIF or QFX with no problem. The error message HomeBank shows me indicates QIF and/or QFX are INVALID. THE SAME QIF AND QFX GNUCASH can import. If it will help, I can select 1 days data from my bank account to send you a file (QIF and/or QFX) from my computer. Since the files will contain institutional location information, I can send the files to one person, not posted on a forum. A possibility I see is, I use OPERA bowser
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/44.0.2403.155 Safari/537.36 OPR/31.0.1889.174

When I want to download statements in .PDF, Opera won't save file, I need to use FIREFOX to save .PDF.
