Amounts in .xhb file deviate by x * 10 ^ -15

Asked by Steve Sibelman

While looking at the XML data to understand better how split transactions are stored, I noticed that many transaction amounts deviate by a tiny amount from the real amounts, e.g.: instead of -42.95, the stored amount is -42.950000000000003. Some are exact to two decimal places as I would expect, but most are not. Why?

It's to do with conversion between a string and a number. Nothing to worry about :)
