White space dillema

I see a lot of whitespace pretty printing fixes by Diego, I wonder if you do it all by hand or with somekind of tool?
There are a lot of tools which check automatically for trailing whitespaces...

M-x delete-trailing-whitespace
M-x whitespace-cleanup

work fine in emacs. Otherwise, grepping for trailing whitespace or tabs should be easy, use Ctrl-v to insert a literal tab at the shell prompt.
