A function that allows the icon in the tray to notify me of new messages?

Asked by Hund

Why havent someone fixed such a simple function that allows the icon in the tray to notify me of new messages? E.g. Pidgin, Mitter, Liferea etc etc.

This is the only reason I dont use Gwibber, and I guess I'm far from alone. Which is sad because I really like the functionality and the support of multiple accounts in Gwibber.

I'm guessing I will never see this function? To bad since I really liked this client, back to Mitter then.

Well I just installed gwibber, and it *does* do that. Unless I'm not understanding what you're asking for. Go to 'gwibber' menu -> 'Preferences' and tick 'Display bubbles'

That works for me to. I want the icon to change to, so I dont need to open the app everytime I want to check for new messages if I missed the notify by libnotify.

Ah right. like the little flag icon skype gives you when you've missed an 'event'. Could be good I agree

I want more control over notifications. I've unticked 'display bubbles' because a bubble for every tweet is too many, but I *do* want them for "important" tweets e.g. new replies directed at me. I guess you'd want similar controls for what counts as an icon changing event.

Can you help with this problem?
