Why don't consider to use TinyURL for URL shortening?

Asked by Federico Alfredo Moretti

I see that the very latest Bazaar revision let set an automated URL shortening system, but it doesn't allow to choose which one to use: http://is.gd/ creates 18-characters URIs, but – if I remember well – it doesn't make use of permanent redirection [301], while TinyURL does (although it outputs 25-characters ones). IMHO, it could be interesting to let the user choice which service to use for URL shortening — and I'm sure that TinyURL libraries are available for Ubuntu!

there is no specific reason why is.gd is the only currently supported service, merely that that was the first one implemented

I created a wishlist bug report for you, it'll be added to the backlog and looked at in time
