Can't set the minutes between refresh lower then 5

Why am I not allowed to lower the refresh interval to less then 5 minutes?
I am a frequent Twitter user and would like to set the value to 1 minute (or see support for the real-time API).

Gwibber uses the normal Twitter API rather than the Streaming API. When Gwibber was first created, the streaming API didn't exist. But now I assume support for it is in the works.
