Is there a way to have messages displayed as notifications?

   Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to display incoming messages in the notification area on Ubuntu 10.04. Right now it does a great job of telling me when people coming online or going offline, but it doesn't tell me what they are posting.

I think that you might be confused. Gwibber doesn't tell who is online or not, that is Empathy. Empathy is the IM Client. Gwibber is the Social Client that displays the posts on Facebook, Twitter, etc. The notifications are not working for me, so that might be your problem.
