Guimup fails on startup performing "get_yearlist"

Asked by Elmer de Looff

I just installed Guimup 0.3.3 from the PPA on Ubuntu 12.10

After configuring my mpd server (which is another machine in my network), guimup crashes on connecting. Starting guimup again from the terminal reveals the following:

elmer@Penrose:~$ guimup
Guimup: starting up in single instance (unique) mode
Using /home/elmer/.config/guimup/guimup.conf
Configured MPD config file does not exist: /home/user/.mpd/mpd.conf
Autoconnecting (as configured)
Assuming remote connection
Connected to MPD on try 1
MPD: Connection closed
Fatal error on "get_yearlist": Connection closed by the server
Reconnecting...
Segmentation fault

Removing the configuration directory for Guimup and retrying the connect to the server I get slightly different but equally failing output:

elmer@Penrose:~$ guimup
Guimup: starting up in single instance (unique) mode
Created ~/.config/guimup
Config: file successfully created.
Could not locate MPD's config file
Is MPD installed?
Autoconnecting (as configured)
MPD is not yet running
Starting MPD (as configured)
sh: mpd: command not found
MPD start command failed
Start command failed. Trying "/usr/bin/mpd"...
sh: /usr/bin/mpd: No such file or directory
Could not start MPD. Is it installed?
Please check the relevant options in the 'settings' window
Connecting

Assuming remote connection
Connected to MPD on try 1
MPD: Connection closed
Fatal error on "get_artistlist": Connection closed by the server

The MPD version on the server side is 0.16.5 on Ubuntu 13.04 (Server)

Any idea on what to do to fix this?

Dear Elmer, I accidently opened this project for submitting questions, so I didn't pay attention to yours and missed it.

This Launchpad project was intended solely for the purpose of autmatically building and publishing Ubuntu packages, as is the new Quimup, which replaces Guimup (see http://lacocina.nl/2013/12/10/quimup-131-packages/).

Although I don't maintain the code, I can see the function you mention is migrated to QT4. I suggest you try the new release, see https://launchpad.net/~quimup.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Elmer de Looff for more information if necessary.
