Show firewall status in Conky

Asked by ALinuxUser

I'd like to use the well-known program 'Conky' to show the firewall status.

I can have the following in my Conky:

${texeci 2 status ufw | cut -d/ -f2}\

- which is (roughly) equivalent to running

status ufw

on the command-line. However, the output of that bit of Conky code is the text 'running' even when, within gufw, I have moved the slider to 'off' (and the terminal command gives the output 'ufw start/running'). Can anyone explain! Perhaps the problem is that my code/command is querying ufw, not *g*ufw . .

I'd like to keep this issue open, if I may.
