Can I add MAC address in firewall rules instead of IP address?

Asked by Prakash_RC

I have problem accessing a shared folder on my Ubuntu from my Android phone. I tried adding the IP address of my android device.. but when ever I reconnect my phone to the wifi it's choosing some random IP address so I can't access the shared folder.. since the firewall is enabled and blocking that connection. I have to turn off the firewall for that session to establish a connection. So I thought is it possible for me to add the MAC address in the firewall rules instead of IP address. Im using GUFW... could some one help me with this?..

Hi! I'm sorry, but Gufw can't filter by MAC address.
I think could be a solution: Assign the same IP for a MAC address in the router. My router has a live connected device and I can assign one IP for once device.
Best regards.
