GTG

Another task software ?

Asked by Stéphane Maniaci

Dear Gtg developpers,

I've been testing Gtg and enjoy it very much, but I can also remember other projects which aim at the same task management system. There's Tasque (http://live.gnome.org/Tasque), Tomboy and also Evolution, which is already included in GNOME.

So why another task manager ? Shouldn't we bring efforts into an unified desktop ?

Cheers,

Stéphane.

PS : Still, Gtg is the best solution I've experienced so far in task managing :).

Hi Stéphane,

I'm not a GTG developer, just a user -- and not that long for that matter. About a day.

But I think desktop "unification" should be up to the distro packagers. I *like* that there are a lot of choices. The more the better. And not just across desktop apps, or even desktop environments, but also OSes. I like GNU/Linux, but I wish there were more OpenSolaris and *BSD users out there too.

I've been using Tasque -- I really like its Remember The Milk integration because I can add tasks using my phone when I remember something in bed at 2AM -- but I prefer GTG's subtasks, which Tasque and RTM don't offer, and GTG task's details are much better than Tasque / RTM's notes. I'd love to see a Gnome Do plugin to add a task. But I know it's still early days. (Maybe ... one day ... when I have some time on my hands ... it'd make a nice little project for me. But if anyone else wants to, PLEASE don't wait for me to do it first. :-) )

Congratulations, guys, on a great piece of software.

Cheers,

Norman.
