Is there an uninstall program for Grub Customiser?

Asked by Richard Harry Smiley

I'm trying to uninstall Grub Customizer (GC) from Ubuntu MATE 20.10 but am unsuccessful. GC causes error messages every time I try to update or upgrade. When I try to uninstall GC I get:
richard@X570-GAMING-X:~$ sudo apt-get remove grub-customizer
[sudo] password for richard:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend. It is held by process 11239 (synaptic)
N: Be aware that removing the lock file is not a solution and may break your system.
E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?

Is there an uninstall program for GC?

Read the error message!
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend. It is held by process 11239 (synaptic)

To avoid concurrent update the Ubuntu package management system ensures that only one program for (un)installing packages runs at a certain moment.
Apparently you have synaptic open, which now prevents the uninstallation of Grub Customizer with the apt command.

Close synaptic and try again. In case that this does not work either, reboot and try again.

Can you help with this problem?
