Cannot move entries.

Asked by Mugsy323

After my old PC died, I restored all of my data to a new computer (with UEFI bios.)

My Grub boot menu was now referring to drives I no longer had, so I edited the Grub menu using "Grub Customizer". Somehow, upon saving, this left me with just one entry: my Windows partition.

I could not get back into my (Ubuntu) Linux partition to repair it, and all attempts to fix it from the LiveCD failed because of the UEFI bios (every attempt to resolve the bios issues failed.)

Frustrated, I created a small partition on another drive simply to install a new minimal copy of Linux so that it would recreate the Grub boot loader on my boot drive. This worked. All of my boot partitions are visible again.

Problem is now it won't allow me to sort/edit the boot menu. Any attempt to change the menu is either ignored or reports "This entry can not be moved."

Is there a way to fix this? HELP!
