Graphite Crashes, what will happen to the data that will be pushed to the graphite, are there any best design practices!

Asked by Chetan Shinde

If I have a Graphite Setup that is listening to Operational Data and crashes how will it recover?

The system that is pushing Operation Data to graphite is still running. Now I will loose this data, so when I restart Graphite services, how can I tell it to collect it from the time it last had collected.

There are three main methods for sending data to Graphite: Plaintext, Pickle, and AMQP. Do I need to consider any specific transfer method for the above requirement?

If we are using jmxtrans/ Engine Mode (.json file) as the source of data, then after we restart the graphite service it does not automatically connect to the JMX Service and continue collecting the data.

Please advice.
