Windows installation

Asked by Mike Wylie

Hi,

I can't find the right information in the Q&A section or googleing; unfortunately graphite is quite a common term.

I understand that graphite as a whole is a collection of python scripts, would it be possible to get it running on a windows machine? Are there any examples of this working?

Unfortunately my department has no *nix skills and will not support a linux install.

Many thanks

It is probably still possible to run on windows with cygwin, though I'm sure compiling all the deps is still a pain in the ass. Running natively would definitely require some patches. I'm honestly not sure how much effort that would take. I'd love to have someone contribute and help maintain windows support, but unfortunately I have pretty much zero windows development knowledge (and no way to test) so I wouldn't be able to help much with the platform-specific stuff.

Short answer: you'd need to patch Graphite to work on Windows.

Hi,

Thanks for the honest response. I don't have any real python or linux skills in the office, so I think that would be too much of a mountain to climb.

I've managed to stand up an ubuntu box (i'll figure out the support issues later), so I'll give that a try.

Cheers
