Difference between mod_python and mod_wsgi

What is the benefit of mod_wsgi over mod_python? I haven't switched, is there a risk that in the future Graphite will not start up with mod_python in some future release?

It looks like running Django under mod_python is deprecated and scheduled to be removed in Django 1.5 [1]. Django just released version 1.4 of their yearly release so it seems you have plenty of time to upgrade.
