Windows 7 installation procedure

Asked by Michael Sykes

After locating, installing, and using a program capable of extracting the contents of .bz2 and .tar files, I now have a folder named "gourmet-0.16.0" containing the contents of your program. How do I complete the installation process? If I have already completed the installation process, where is the executable program file? (none of the files have the .exe extension) May I move the folder to another location on my hard drive?

The .tar.bz2 package you found is a python source package, i.e. something that needs a python interpreter and lot of extra modules to run. Under Windows, that implies manually downloading and installing a lot of other software.

I'm currently working on a proper Windows build and installer bundle that includes everything you need, but it will take me another two weeks or so. So you can either wait for that, or if you're feeling very adventurous, try to follow the instructions found at -- but if you're not that experienced with this kind of stuff, I'd rather suggest you wait for my installer.

Just a short note to let you know that I've recently released Gourmet 0.17.0, including a Windows version.

Can you help with this problem?
