You should not be getting that bug. Helder finally squashed it some time ago.

Open a terminal and run "GnoMenu.py run-in-window" without the quotes of course. Please copy and past the terminal output to this discussion.

At first it was
----------------------------------------------------
gconf backend
GnoMenu 2.3
python numpy not installed , some effects and gtk native colors wont be available
settings load
settings load
gmenu found, using it as default menu parser
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'Element'
-------------------------------------------------------

Then I installed python-numpy
then the out put in terminal changed to
---------------------------------------------------------
gconf backend
GnoMenu 2.3
settings load
gmenu found, using it as default menu parser
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'Element'
48
start
shaping window
loading icon cache
menu restart favorites
deskbar found - binding
position changed
show
first
------------------------------------------
The menu appeared in a window

But when adding GNOMENU to panel the same OAFIID error .

Please update Ubuntu. Install bzr (sudo apt-get install bzr) then download the latest development snapshot with the command bzr branch lp:gnomenu

If that does not fix the issue I will reactivate the OAFIID bug for investigation.
