How do i change the GnoMenu to have a different open close animation from my windows with Compiz-Fusion?

Asked by dante_son_of_sparda616

I've tried GnoMenu and really liked it. Far better then the default Gnome one haha.

But i don't like it has the same open close Compiz-Fusion animations as my windows.

Is there anyway to change it to another? Or at least remove the effects?

If there is it will have to be done through Compiz. GnoMenu is still in its infancy and menu effects are kinda down the line still. Especially with looking at having to do a complete re-write for Python 3.

ageiringer suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #282: “Installing GnoMenu from Source Packages”.

No actual solution available at this time. Animated menu effects slated for 2.X series

I have the solution ;)

Go to CompizConfig Settings Manager --> Animations -> Open Animation
Now Click "New" Button then select the preferred "Open Effect" and "Duration"
Put in the "Window Match" this text: (type=Normal) & (class=GnoMenu.py & name=GnoMenu.py & title=GnoMenu)

Do not forget to move this New setting to the top of all other using the button "Up".

Do the same thing to the close animation

This worked for me, I wish it work for you, too.

GnoMenu 2.9 (from PPA)
Ubuntu 10.04

This worked for me. :D A question though: How did you find out the class and so on?
