Unable to load data into zeitgeist-daemon/journal

Asked by geoff johnson on 2009-07-17

I assume that I'm missing some start up step to have the daemon monitor my activities, after I installed the engine and the GUI I ran the daemon and the journal programs as a non-root user and it doesn't seem like there is anything happening. Should I be running the daemon as root?

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 with Gnome & Openbox on a 32 bit x86 system. Any advice would be appreciated as I'd really like to try out Zeitgeist, it looks like it could be very useful, I'm the type of person that always forgets what I was working on previous days and if I leave it for too long I end up forgetting about what I was doing entirely.

I'm not sure if it matters but here's what I get when I launch the daemon from the command line:
------------
INFO:zeitgeist.engine.base:Creating database: sqlite:/home/captainron/.local/share/zeitgeist/database.sqlite
DEBUG:root:Checking for another running instance...
DEBUG:root:No other instances found.

Thanks.
