Why force-quit just close application ?

Asked by adam0509

Hi,

I wondering why "Force-quit" panel tool is just making a soft "kill", instead of a hard "kill" (the equivalent of a "kill -9" or "killall -9" in console).

When my app crash, I always try "Force quit", but at final, I have to open console to make a "killall -9"...

well, getting xkill is better, install it by

sudo apt-get install xkill

then make a launcher on the panel for it. it acts as a 'hard kill' rather than a soft kill, which i think is what you want

Force-quit should hard kill - on idea that Linux is for non geeks too.

Xkill can kill any app that you touch with his cursor - so xkill is a really "killer" feature for a non linux geek.
Force-quit has more logic for a new linux user.

But for now a lot of processes remain in memory, opera plugin cleaner will kill your CPU even you "force-quit" Opera ...and this is just 1 example.

Can you help with this problem?
