How to manually edit/add channels

Asked by Need4Speed

Currently my DVB-S channel scanning is not working correctly: it only finds 1 channel. This single channel does work in Totem though. I'd like to add more channels manually to start testing. Looks like the channel file format is similar to the standard szap format, but when I add channels manually to the config file nothing happens. GUI channel adding manipulation remains unimplemented it seems.

Also channel scanning takes quite a long time. I'll start filing bug reports once I get more channels going.

OK, looks like I just needed to restart gnome-dvb-daemon to reload the channel list. But now my original working channels isn't in the list anymore. Sigh.

You can use scan from the dvb-apps package to create a channels file. Once you have the file go to Preferences->Create new group in gnome-dvb-control and select the file there.
