is it possible to access the mate-keyring of linux mint 13 with gkeyring? This is a gnome2 fork, where the binaries have new names.
best regards,
Oliver

I have no idea. Why don't you try it and report back? Thanks.

me@host:~$ gkeyring --set -n "Test entry" -p foo=bar --keyring login
Password:
Error creating keyring item!
Details:
me@host:~$ env | grep KEYRING
MATE_KEYRING_
me@host:~$ ls /tmp/keyring-Gs5EaP
control gpg pkcs11 ssh
anything else what I could try?

Can you also test querying for some existing keyring item, e.g. using its ID? You can see them in the 'seahorse' utility.

seems to be some bug in Linux Mint. I've linked them.
If I install seahorse it installs gnome-keyring and I get an empty keyring. I think this can only be solved by the mint developers.
