Gephi won't start

I just downloaded GEPHI (required for my coursera class) on a Macbook Air running OSX 10.8.2, and clicking on the icon will not start the program. I've restarted the computer, downloaded the software again.

Any idea how I can resolve so I can complete my assignments?

Very excited about using the software.
