Map node-parameter to z-Axis

Asked by Andy H.

Hi Gephi-Community,

I just got in touch with this awesome tool and started to explore the possibilities.

By playing with the GUI, one question came up, I could not find an answer to by googling around:
Is there a simple way to map a column from the "Data Laboratory" to the Z-Axis of the Nodes in my graph? (e.g. visualize the page rank of a node or another property-value as it's height on the z-Axis)?

Hopefully I just did not find the right button or funtionality? Or do I have to write a new "Layout" to achieve this?

Thanks in advance,
Andy

Hi,

No it's not possible, so a new "layout" is a good idea. Maybe this can be generalized for X and Y axis as well...

Actually Alexis Jacomy did a plug-in for doing that in Ranking. I'm not sure if he included the Z axis but the X and Y is there.

The plugin is not yet available as it uses some of the new developments in the Ranking API which will be included in the next release. We plan to release in two weeks the 0.8beta version. Once this is done Alexis will release his plugin. So stay tuned!
