ranking by node attributes

Asked by Ned Smith

This seems simple but I can't figure out if it's possible in Gephi. I want to "rank" -- the "Ranking" tab, specifically I want node size -- according to node attributes that are read into the node file. For instance, I have a few factor variables that I'm reading in with my node data. Right now, "Partition" seems to be the only way -- besides queries, which doesn't really get at what I want -- to visualize these node attributes but I'm limited to color in partitions. Am I missing something??

Thanks!!

Hi Ned,

I understand that you want to use one of your columns data to rank node size, right?
Is your column numeric? The columns used for ranking have to be numeric and they can't be, for example, Strings.

Also, if you need, you can convert a column to another type of column duplicating the original column in data laboratory.

You got it! Thanks. I knew this must be simple. Totally overlooked the need to change from string to numeric. Thanks! Gephi is fantastic, by the way. Keep up the good work.
