HOWTO create syntax

I am trying to find out how to create a syntax for gedit but have been unable to find anywhere in documentation

If someone could point to me to the documentation i will be very happy .. thanks

It seems the documentation is a bit sparse at the moment, the best I could find with Google is: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gedit-list/2005-June/msg00019.html
