how to use to wipe a disk? i.e. if=/dev/zero

Asked by Eric Marcus

hi, I can use dd to wipe a disk (or at least write zeros to every sector), can I use gdiskdump to do the same thing? if so, how?

Thanks!

Well yes, if you select /dev/zero as the Input File, gdiskdump will execute the right dd command, but the GUI will crash.
You would need to monitor the dd Process via "top" or "System Monitor" and wait for it to finish.

Better use dd directly.
