how long a arm gcc release kit support?

Asked by randy

Hi ,
Does anyone know that how long some arm-gcc release kits will be support?
If arm-gcc-2017-q4 is a marjor release, but we find a bug on this release , will arm give the patch version, or we should update to the newest version like 2018-q1?
Any suggestion will be appreciate.

Hi Randy,

Update releases (such as 2018Q2) are the patch version you are asking for. They only include bugfixes and support for new R and M architecture or CPU announced. We deliberetaly keep GCC, binutils and GDB version unchanged in update releases.

Best regards.
