NXP refers folks to this tool for IMX6UL/IMX6ULL... is this in error?

Asked by DJ Regan on 2017-11-30

Is it possible to use this toolchain with Cortex-A7 processors?

Reason I ask... NXP's MCUXpresso SDK 2.2, targeting IMX6UL/IMX6ULL processors, contains documentation that recommends folks use this GNU ARM Embedded Toolchain.

Subsequently upon visiting this main support page for the toolchain... I see no Cortex-A processors are listed as supported?

Thoughts?

Thanks Much!

Hi DJ Regan,

It should work but we don't test A profile targets as thoroughly. Alternatively Linaro provide bare-metal toolchain for A profile which you could use.

Best regards,

Thomas

Thanks Thomas Preud'homme, that solved my question.

By the way, latest bare-metal Linaro toolchain can be found at https://releases.linaro.org/components/toolchain/binaries/latest/arm-eabi/

Best regards.
