README.nano missing

Asked by Hans Ridder

The readme.txt file in the "Downloads" section of the launchpad site (which seems to be the same as the share/doc/gcc-arm-none-eabi/readme.txt file in the source package) suggests that:

"For more about the difference and usage, please refer the README.nano in the
source package."

That file is not in the source package. It would be good to have more information on the "difference and usage" of newlib-nano. I would have filed a bug but that is discouraged without trying "answers" first, but the readme.ext is clearly broken.

Hi Hans,

What an amazing timing for your question, I just noticed this yesterday when doing some change to our readme.txt. I already created an internal issue for this with the goal of fixing it for the next update release. In the meantime, I found an old copy online at https://github.com/32bitmicro/newlib-nano-1.0/blob/master/newlib/README.nano.

It should also be in old version of our toolchain but it would take me longer to locate the last version of the toolchain that had this documentation.

Best regards.
