How to link separate applications

Hi,

Currently I have a project running on RTX on a STM32F4. I would like to keep this as our base firmware and be able to flash an external application to a different flash location. The application shall be able to call the base firmware functions. Also the base firmware will call the application periodically. How do I go about setting up the linker for application?

Having this separation can allow new functionality by only flashing the application and not having a single monolithic application.

Any help will be appreciated.
