gcc-arm-embedded on Lubuntu 13.10, Saucy Salamander?

Asked by DIY DSP

Hi All!

I'm trying to install gcc-arm-embedded on Lubuntu 13.10 using the instructions at:
https://launchpad.net/~terry.guo/+archive/gcc-arm-embedded

The first step works great:
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:terry.guo/gcc-arm-embedded

It replies:
gpg: keyring `/tmp/tmpoe6wvy/secring.gpg' created
gpg: keyring `/tmp/tmpoe6wvy/pubring.gpg' created
gpg: requesting key A3421AFB from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: /tmp/tmpoe6wvy/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
gpg: key A3421AFB: public key "Launchpad PPA for Terry Guo" imported
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1)
OK

The second step results in an error:
sudo apt-get -y update

It replies:

I was wondering if this is because Ubuntu 13.10 is not yet supported? At this time the page for the project only says it goes up to 13.04. Also a peek at http://ppa.launchpad.net/terry.guo/gcc-arm-embedded/ubuntu/dists/ shows no listing for saucy at this time.

Is there anything I can contribute to help fix this on 13.10? Or are there any workarounds? Can I test it? Or should I just downgrade my linux to 13.04 or wait?

Thank you very much everyone for your help and for this wonderful project, I've been using it with great delight under Ubuntu 11 for about a year now and sharing all of my information at http://diydsp.com/livesite/pages/stm32f4

You are right that 13.10 isn't supported yet. But a few days later, we will publish a new release which supports 13.10.

This looks like it's fixed now, many thanks.

I note that the PPA description doesn't contain any comments about 13.10. Does that mean that this "support" isn't really supported, or is that just an oversight?

It is officially and equally supported. The description just focuses on the LTS versions. Will update it.
