reading \writing system registers

Hi i am using the ARM v8 cores (a57 and a 53 ) and the GIC 500 ,
My GCC version is - 4.7.3-0.11.225-baremetal/x86_64-linux/bin/aarch64-none-elf-gcc

I am trying to read /write to the ICC_* system registers which are GIC related while using the MSR/MRS commands and getting compilation error that the compiler doesn't recognize these registers as system registers .

an example for such a register is - ICC_IAR1_EL1

is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?
