looking for GDB v7.6.1

Asked by Randy Shayed

Hi Folks,
My First time asking a question:) it is not a problem but could not check where to ask a simple question.

I really appreciate your time and effort in making windows releases for the ARM tool chain, really you guys rock, keep the good job.

I am looking for GDB v7.61 for ARM none eabi for WINDOWS, is there any place where I can download the binary for windows, or any plans to include v7.61 in the next release?

Currently GDB v7.41 is included in the current download.

Sorry if I am posting to the wrong thread!

Cheers.

Hi Randy,

Your concerns and feedback are welcome. Before each releases, we do evaluate which gdb should be included. May I ask why you prefer 7.6.1 over 7.4.1? Which feature do you require from 7.6.1? Thanks.

Terry

Hi Terry,

Thank you for your prompt reply, I wanted to try to see if reverse debugging is supported fully in the latest version 7.61, I realized after research that it is only available for Linux since 7.4 , but I thought to check with your guys if have more info.

Best Regards,

Hi Randy,

At the first time, I have same conclusion, but I am not so sure. So I asked at gdb mailing list, you can see the replies at http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb/2013-07/msg00068.html.

Sounds to me like the reverse debugging isn't something difficult to implement for arm baremetal targets, the author just didn't put baremetal into his list.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for looking into that, I get the same thing : Target remote does not support this command. That's why I wanted a clean build of v7.6.1 just to see if I am doing something wrong or not.

I read the gdb mailing list, and it was so informative, thanks to all of you guys, I will also follow the issue with the gdb list. Hopefully in the next build (for windows) you can include gdb 7.5.1 or 7.6.1 , for some reason 7.4 crashes with my eclipse CDT for windows (it works OK from the command line). v7.31 and v7.51 work ok, and v7.31 is very much stable, v7.5.1 give some times problems so we revert back to 7.3.1 for that project project.

Thank you again for your effort and prompt reply.

Best Regards,
