Installer aborts with Error "Error in startup script"

Asked by Michael Marker

Hello,

I'm trying to install GCC ARM embedded on a Windows 7 64 Bit Machine. I downloaded the Win32 Installer gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_7-2012q4-20121208-win32.exe from Launchpad and tried to execute it with Adminstration rights. Immediately after starting the Installer I get a obscure Error Message with the title "Error in startup script" . The first line of the error message states:"can't read "::env(PATH)": no such variable while executing". I've posted the full Error Message here:

Thank you for your help!

Michael,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. But we couldn't reproduce this problem in our Win7 64-bit platforms.

Do you think a non-installation zip package work for you? You need to manually expand it and set path.

Hi,
We tried it on windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit, and have difficulty in reproducing the problem.
By the way, by "Adminstration rights", do you mean a user account in group "Administrator", or the specific "admin" user account?

Thanks.

Hello Joey,

thank you and chengbin for your response. My user account has local administration rights and is set in a global administration group. I get the same error message even when using a older version of GCC ARM embedded. Is there a Windows zip package available so I can maybe skip the installer?

Best Regards,

Michael
