Gala

focus issues with certain applications in xfce

Hey,

I'm running gala in xfce and sometimes have focus issues with certain windows i.e. the window appears behind the current window rather than focusing on the newly opened application e.g when opening say a text file in mousepad from thunar, mousepad will appear behind thunar, the odd thing is this only seems to happen when I'm running thunar as root and doesn't pose a problem if running normally.

Not sure if this is a problem with gala but am just seeking some advice into what could be the cause

Looking into this further it appears to be a gnome issue, whenever I run a command either from the command line or say I set up hotcorners with an assigned command it will always open behind the current focused window and I have to select the new window in order to gain focus.

I have tried changing some dconf settings around for gnome focusing but haven't found a solution yet
