Animation change

Asked by jmikelf

Early versions of Gala had some slide-down animation for indicators pop-ups and slingshot. Recently, this was changed for a popover animation. I prefer the old one (i like the idea of falling down menus) but my point is: how do you choose one or another? i know this kind of customizations is sometimes very personal, and important for linux-hard-users too.
One idea that came to my mind is something like the elementary Labs, where users could vote for choosing the default wallpapers. That was a great idea and a great detail with your fans. But a Switchboard plugin sounds good too.

Keep doing this great job folks, you really inspire me

It is planned to give you a giant box of customization options in dconf, including animations of course. But nothing is really clear up to now, and you'll defintely have to wait for it, at the moment the goal is to get Gala working and stable, but it's an item on our todo list. You'll probably also get a switchboard plug, but, most probably, it won't be as advanced..

Oh and I forgot to mention, the animation with the slide-down/up menu was dropped because you could easily break it to slide the wrong way by opening a menu with your keyboard... but perhaps we will make it accessible in dconf later anyway ;)
